Travel Awards

Region II 2022 Regional Meeting Travel Awards

 

Region II is offering travel awards to Region II members to reimburse recipients for the cost of registration, NCURA membership (if not a member already), travel, hotel or related expenses to attend the Region II Regional Meeting in Wilmington, DE, November 6-9, 2022.

Recipients are selected based on nominations received by the deadline and considered by the Region's Leadership Development and Nominating Committee and the Steering Committee. In addition to attending the entirety of the Region II Regional Meeting, recipients must provide a report of their experience at the meeting and a reimbursement request within 30 days of the conclusion of the meeting.

 

Awards: Two travel awards of $1,250 each will be awarded to reimburse the recipients.

 

Deadline: Friday, October 7, 2022, by 5:00pm ET. Late applications will not be accepted.

 

Eligibility: Nominees must be research administrators whose institutional location is in the Region II geographic area (Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Washington, DC) and who have never attended an in-person NCURA Region II Regional Meeting. Nominees are not required to be members of NCURA at the time of nomination. Travel awards for non-members will include membership in NCURA. Self-nominations are permitted.

 

Process: Complete and submit the Application Form with a letter of commitment from the nominee's supervisor. The letter of commitment template is available here. The letter of commitment should be on the institution’s letterhead and should only include the information requested in the template.

 

Nominees will be notified by October 17, 2022.

 

Selection: Recipients are selected based on nominations received by the deadline and considered by the Region’s Leadership Development and Nominating Committee and the Steering Committee. Selections are based on perceived need, benefit to the nominees, and benefit to the research administration community.  The Committee’s decision is final.

Region II 2024 Annual Meeting Travel Award Nominations

 

One travel award of $1,250 will be awarded to a Region II member to reimburse the recipient for the cost of registration, travel, hotel or related expenses to attend the NCURA Annual Meeting, August 4-7, 2024, in Washington, DC.

 

Recipients are selected based on nominations received by the deadline and considered by the Region's Leadership Development and Nominating Committee and the Steering Committee. In addition to attending the entirety of the NCURA Annual Meeting, recipients must provide a report of their experience at the meeting and a reimbursement request for the travel award to be paid.

 

Eligibility: Nominees must be research administrators from the Region II geographic area who have never attended an in-person NCURA Annual Meeting. Nominees are not required to be members of NCURA at the time of nomination but will be required to join as part of the registration fee for the meeting. Self-nominations are permitted.

 

Process: Complete and submit the Application Form with a letter of support from the nominee's supervisor by June 21, 2024. Nominees will be notified by July 5, 2024.

Distinguished Service Awards

The Region II Leadership Development and Nominating Committee (LDNC) is accepting nominations for the Region II Distinguished Service Award.

 

The Distinguished Service Award is an annual award to recognize members of NCURA Region II who have made sustained and significant contributions to the Region. Up to three awards may be given in any one year. The Awardee(s) will be recognized at the Region II Regional Meeting in Wilmington, DE, on November 6-9, 2022.

Eligibility 
A candidate for the Region II Distinguished Service Award must meet the following eligibility requirements:

 

  • Must be a current or past member of NCURA at an institution located in Region II (DC, DE, MD, NJ, NY, PA, WV);

  • Must have made a significant contribution to Region II; and

  • Must not be a current Region II Officer or Region II Standing Committee Chair or Co-Chair.

Nomination Process 
A complete nomination packet consists of:

  • A letter of nomination from a current member of Region II detailing the nominee’s sustained and significant contributions to Region II of NCURA; and

  • Two additional letters of support from individuals familiar with the nominee’s contributions to Region II of NCURA.

Nomination packets should be submitted to Catherine Parker, LDNC Chair, at caparker@umd.edu. Final selection of the awardee(s) will be by the Region II Steering Committee.
